Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) is committed to addressing complex societal challenges by advancing education and research at the intersection of statistics, data science, information and decision systems, and social sciences.

The MicroMasters Program in Statistics and Data Science (MMSDS) is an existing online offering from the Institute of Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at MIT. MMSDS is a professional and academic credential, with certification tied to the PhD in Social and Engineering Systems (SES) at IDSS and other graduate degrees at partner institutions. It serves an essential role in IDSS efforts to fulfill its core mission of advancing research and education programs related to statistics and data science. The program has over 150000 total enrollments from 195 countries. It provides free, open access to MIT graduate level education in data science for learners around the world. Each course run has over 2000 active learners.
